If you have not seen or heard of Jake Shimabukuro,
you are missing out! He plays the ukulele like Hendrix played
the guitar. He's been compared to Miles Davis and many others.
And for $5, this is not to be missed.
Annual Hawaii Central
Park Picnic
Started over 20 years ago by members of
the local Hawaiian community to celebrate May Day, the annual
Central Park Picnic brings together over 300 people from the
Hawaiian community together each year on the first Sunday of
June in a Hawaiian style potluck with ono food, kanikapila Hawaiian
music and hula. Everyone is invited to dance hula or play some
Hawaiian music so bring your mele, hula and instruments. There
will be a CD player and small sound system available. It's a
potluck so bring your favorite local dish to share and your own
non-alcoholic beverages as well as trash bags for clean-up.
Use the 85th Street entrance to the park.
Keep right on the path until you see the lamppost sign "Summit
Rock" then go up the hill. |
